The Comic Roast Episode #18 - Wytches Get Stitches
Monday Nov 17, 2014
Monday Nov 17, 2014
For the first time in the history of the Roast, we welcome a guest host into the studio this week! Chris Red Alert of the famed White Eagle mosh-pit maneuver joins us to talk comics, nerd stuff and his personal battle with gastrointestinal malaise. First, Joe indulges us with his opinion on X-Men: Days Of Future Past after having seen it. We also go around the horn to see what each one of us has been reading since we last met. In keeping with the X-Men, we sputter our thoughts on the forthcoming Mutant Revolution board game from WizKids and WWE superstar CM Punk as a new writer for Thor. We discuss who portrayed The Joker better than the others who have donned the purple suit of the Clown Prince of Crime. In New #1, we stir the cauldron around to see who was digging on Wytches by Scott Snyder and we cap it all off with an Over / Under on Adult Swim Shows. There's a red alert in the area when the white eagle flies and only the Comic Roast can catch him.

The Night Beard Show #13: Days Of Future Beard
Wednesday Nov 12, 2014
Wednesday Nov 12, 2014
The Night Beard Show is nothing without it's wand of magic that enables us to bring the listener premium chatter each week. That said, even we with beard o' mighty have not the staff of the princess demon wand from Dollar Tree. If it were to waft into our paths, we might beat one another over it as if it were a pizza. This week, we look in depth at the epidemic of subway nudity, romantic robbery of the Arby's kind as well as what it might taste like to fuse Mountain Dew with Doritos. We are sometimes as on-the-nose as getting arrested for meth while wearing a shirt proclaiming one's love for meth. Still, none of us are desperate enough to dial 9-1-1 looking for a date, no matter how many miles that woman can run while drinking beer. We wrap on some comic book movie news and the glory days of z-grade science fiction movies broadcast on UHF as "an event"...much like the drop of this show every Wednesday!

The Comic Roast Episode #17 - It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Monk
Monday Nov 10, 2014
Monday Nov 10, 2014
There are moments when we all wish to get all comical on someone, but there's no chance we'd ever risk roasting ole' Gregori Rasputin. This week, we all had some recent movie viewings to discuss. Brian had the chance to watch The Lego Movie with the nephews and found it a rip roarin' good time. Meanwhile, none decided to heed Brian's warning that The Wolverine was a good, but uneven film and as a result, everyone came away bearing their own Adamantium claws. Bouncing from topic to topic, we touch a bit on the next Blizzard game Overwatch, the latest trailer for the final installment of The Hobbit trilogy and the potential for Anne Hathaway to don the cat ears once again. In New #1, we delve into the mad monk in Rasputin. Finally, we bandy about the merits of the cartoons we grew up watching and try to dissect why Brian wasn't very into Scooby Doo in Over / Under. This episode never flails and will never find itself washed up in the river.

The Comic Roast Episode #16 - Memes & Marvels
Monday Nov 03, 2014
Monday Nov 03, 2014
The Comical Roasters took a day to trek out to the great blue yonder in search of action figures and adventure games. This episode, we discuss the Chicago Toy Show and the incredibly high prices and disturbing amount of racist toys that were once available for all. We bandy about who our go-to comic book characters are and why before diving deep into the recent Marvel event that maps out their film schedule for the next five years. In New #1, we take a look at memes and the danger they could present society if weaponized in Memetic #1 from Boom! Studios. Finally, we see which Simpsons characters grew old quickly and which ones have withstood the test of 23 seasons in Over / Under. Brian may not have gotten the Swamp Thing statue he desired, but we give you the podcast that you deserve.

The Comic Roast Episode #15 - The Horror Of It All
Monday Oct 27, 2014
Monday Oct 27, 2014
This Friday is Halloween and we had to do a special horror episode of The Comic Roast! This episode ran a bit longer than normal to the point of being downright scary. It was a perfect recipe for brewing up a cauldron of talk on horror movies, monsters, frightful concepts, creepy tales and all things that go bump in the night. As a special treat for our listeners, we took our weekly Over / Under segment and made an entire show of it, discussing the merits and pitfalls of classic horror movie villains, horror stories, game franchises, music & soundtracks, ghastly artwork and more! The conversation volleys between everything from the unsettling nature of the Satanic Panic of the 1980's, which movie villains were rendered laughable during the lunch hour, who wanted more Baphomet with their brine and much more! Leaving no headstone unturned, we dive off a cliff and right into Deadpool's Art Of War for this week's New #1 along with Mike Tyson Mysteries, a killer new hashtag for Twitter and the joy of winning a raffle! It's a long one for sure, but not nearly as long as it felt to sit through Michael Bay's Friday The 13th remake!

The Night Beard Show #11 - BeardJack Horseman
Wednesday Oct 22, 2014
Wednesday Oct 22, 2014
The Night Beard Show is often recorded in the A.M. so it stands to reason that sometimes, we are a bit on the tired side. That said, we are never too groggy to accidentally put on pink panties after a colonoscopy. This episode is at the level of entertainment value that might eclipse the rarest of trading cards on the market, delivering the content that one can't stop listening to in the penalty box. We're not saying that we attract visitors from other worlds, but we can say where we rank against hot sex after a Foo Fighters concert. Always remember to tip your waitress, even if she does break into your home drunk and dressed as a zombie. Will the news of a Minecraft movie turn up your aggression levels when you clean the house? Because if that doesn't, perhaps even more derivative movie and TV news will cause you to lose it on a helpless appliance. We're geared up from the beard up!

The Comic Roast Episode #14 : The Roasting Of Riffs
Monday Oct 20, 2014
Monday Oct 20, 2014
This episode of The Comic Roast is set to shred like a cavalcade of screeching guitar licks from a surprisingly good Bullet Boyz song. To begin, we unearth yet another conversation on the commercialization of zombies and the glossing over of the glorious Italian gorefests of yore. Then we embark on a quick trip to Middle Earth and see how Lord Of The Rings: Nazgul would fare. However, the crux of the episode revolves around the record breaking attendance of the recent New York Comic Con and whether or not the conventions are squeezing out comics, the very thing at the heart of each genre gathering. In this week's New #1, we get into the Halloween spirit by lifting the coffin lid on Steve Niles and Damien Worm's new IDW series The October Faction. Finally, we geek out over guitarists, bantering forth and back to see who is the major rager on the 6-string mutha and who should "Stick to glam metal, dude!" in Over / Under. As we approach Halloween, we reckon that this episode of The Comic Roast is so good, it's scary!

The Night Beard Show #10 - Take A Deep Beard
Wednesday Oct 15, 2014
Wednesday Oct 15, 2014
When a milestone such as Episode 10 arrives, the Beards have cause celebrate in the form of massive amounts of twerking. We have yet to quit our day jobs to do so, but that's why someone invented YouTube. Still, we are confident that this episode will be the audio equivalent of joyous inebriation. Just don't offer any to any two-year olds because that is just plain wrong. As we celebrated this monumental episode, we threw a massive party and took selfies, dabbled in cross dressing and quoted Lord Of The Rings until the horses showed up for jail time. The party was not wild enough to warrant a 17-hour erection but the chicken was delightful. Was the Tim Burton Batman anywhere to be seen or was it lost in space? We discuss the horror of it all and much more!

The Comic Roast Episode #13 - Collecting Theatrical Dust
Monday Oct 13, 2014
Monday Oct 13, 2014
Are movie theaters in danger of being streamed out of business? The Roasters take a look at an article that contends that possibility before sharing how we feel about the rise of streaming media. As is to be expected, opinions are as mixed as general consensus of Watch Dogs for the PS4. In an attempt to get a bit deeper into human want and need, we bandy about the possibilities of what rare collectible we might desire if money was no object as it was for the recent buyer of Action Comics #1 for $3.2 million. In New #1's, we revisit the recent Thor dustup and see if Lady Odinson is really worth all of the debate or not. On Over / Under, we reflect fondly on the sitcoms of the 80's, including a weird love/hate vibe for Designing Women. Perk up a fresh pot of your favorite blend, relax and let us roast away your day!

The Night Beard Show #9 - I Am Bearded
Wednesday Oct 08, 2014
Wednesday Oct 08, 2014
As a matter of course, we at The Night Beard Show need to state that we do not endorse the spread of human waste in public in all of its most vile forms. Clearly, someone in the potential New York City audience failed to get the memo on that. Luckily for that person and us, no one in the nearby region decided to turn Grand Theft Auto-style reckless driving into a hobby. Anyhow, we dig up some more weird and interesting stories for everyone to chew on this week. We look into the phenomenon of base jumping and why no amount of Go-Cam sponsorship will ever get Brian to play Superman. If for no other reason, we all hope to be around later in life for that rumored hot retirement home copulation. All of that along with Charlie Sheen's trip to the dentist, Mel Gibson angling to join the Marvel Universe, more film franchises being rebooted on TV and more!

The Comic Roast Episode #12 - Games Of Gotham
Monday Oct 06, 2014
Monday Oct 06, 2014
For the first episode of October, The Comic Roast had to delve into the dark recesses of comic book TV-dom by expelling our thoughts on the first 2 episodes of Gotham. Brian was enthusiastic of his admiration of the Batman-less cop drama, but what did Joe and Scott think? From there, we took a fine-toothed comb to the tentative release list of PlayStation 4 titles to launch by the end of 2014 by commenting on about 15-20% of them that actually drew our intrigue. In this week's New #1, we do our level best to get into the same league as more prominent comic podcasts by looking at comedian Paul Scheer's Deadpool Bi-Annual from Marvel Comics. We top of this week's episode with an Over / Under on Video Game Franchise Mascots. While our being the Podcast With Pugnacity is still up for debate, you can bet that we won't ply you with $7 worth of Hoobastank!

You Talk Too Much #7 - Calling The Complaint Department
Friday Oct 03, 2014
Friday Oct 03, 2014
After a three-week absence, this week's You Talk Too Much marks the triumphant return of Cola to wax intellectual on dating over 30. Two of the three Talkers are and/or have been dabbling in the world of online dating with decidedly mixed results. While Cola is fairly new to the phenomenon of online dating, she has been overwhelmed with interest. Brody is a grizzled veteran of the online dating world and the levels of interest always seem tepid. Meanwhile, Scott refuses to sink to that low. Upon inspecting some of Cola's current suitors, Brody may finally have the insight as to why not many seem to be buying what he is selling. Is online dating worth it, a hassle or indicative of a generation becoming ever more detached from one another? Listen and find out!

The Night Beard Show #8 - Beard Genius
Wednesday Oct 01, 2014
Wednesday Oct 01, 2014
There are times when we at The Night Beard Show can get frustrated and overwhelmed but one thing you can count on is that we will never quit in the middle of a show. Doing a weekly podcast can be a bit daunting a task, but it still seems a relatively simple one compared to hoarding a plethora of undelivered goods. This is why this episode is brand new again this week, fresher than 18 tons of rotting trailer poultry. Would we ever advise to run over a city worker? Not likely. We are all about freedom and love for all, whether it be humans or donkeys. You can always count on the Beards to deliver the comedy goods and we promise to never leave a snake in your vehicle, metaphorical or literal. It wouldn't take a real genius to see that we are sincere.

The Comic Roast Episode #11 - Samantha Fox & No Friends
Tuesday Sep 30, 2014
Tuesday Sep 30, 2014
The Comic Roast is nothing if not dedicated to hard hitting news journalism. So when we tell the listening audience that WizKids is partnering with Wizards Of The Coast for another round of D&D Adventure Games, you can bet that it is fair & balanced. This week, we analyze the analyzers as we report and you decide if our thoughts on the Fox & Friends hosts getting into comic book commentary is keeping it pithy. Brian also basks in the prime glory of attaining an expensive cooperative board game for a garage sale price, as well as his first pair of triumphant victories in Settlers Of Catan. We discuss Comic Book Movie Villains in Over / Under and worship at the altar of Ed Brubaker in New #1's. We may not be strong enough to wield the hammer of Thor, but I can bet that we are cooler than Tucker Carlson.

The Night Beard Show #7 - The Power Of Beard
Wednesday Sep 24, 2014
Wednesday Sep 24, 2014
We at The Night Beard Show know that you have been chomping at the bit for this new episode, but patience rewards those who don't revert to cannibalistic means. On this latest episode, we aim to be the cure for those lonely nights where ever a blow up doll can't cure what ails you. Please refrain from lighting your armpits on fire as we discuss Derek Jeter's alleged fetishes, our sadness over the Honey Boo Boo saga, Keanu Reeves' zen library lifestyle, the TV spinoff's that came oh so close to enriching our dull lives and more Nicolas Cage talk. When you do the math, you really can't go wrong with some more Beard in your daily life.

The Comic Roast Episode #10 - Step Forward, Turn 40
Monday Sep 22, 2014
Monday Sep 22, 2014
This week's episode of The Comic Roast was recorded in the aftermath of Joe's megasized all-day gaming 40th birthday bash. We begin in Joe's absence as we banter back and forth about the forthcoming reboot of Heroes Reborn on NBC and why it took a year for Brian to finish reading Batman: No Man's Land. Our New #1 for this week is God Hates Astronauts by Ryan Browne, brought to you by Image Comics. In recalling the party, we morph into an argument about the merits of 80's action movies, how many of the Dirty Harry films are worth watching and more. Over / Under for this week involves deck builders and no one mentioned Dominion. For the listeners who can only experience the festivities vicariously through this episode, just strap on a party hat and imagine you were there.

You Talk Too Much #6 - From Birdman To Batman
Friday Sep 19, 2014
Friday Sep 19, 2014
For the second week, Cola was absent but too much talking could not be held down. Brody and Scott used the opportunity to apply a fine toothed comb to Den Of Geek.com's Top 25 Fall Movies of 2014 list. Admittedly, many of the choices were new to both hosts and to whittle down our own personal lists was the goal. We take a look at then-unknown picks such as "Whiplash" and "Nightcrawler" as well as better-known properties such as "Gone Girl" and Jon Stewart's forthcoming "Rosewater". Will any unknown's intrigue us enough to enter our personal radars? Will Michael Keaton experience the comeback projected from "Birdman"? Will "Gone Girl" meet it's literary hype? Grab some popcorn and get cozy by the fire for a night at the movies!

The Night Beard Show #6 - Beard Reputation
Wednesday Sep 17, 2014
Wednesday Sep 17, 2014
Tired and overstuffed bodies may be trouble for some, but no amount of manual labor or fried pickles can keep the Beard from getting to you (sing it in your most romantic vocal stylings). On this episode of The Night Beard Show, we tackle the serious issues that shape our world, particularly those in the shape of virtual breasts. If it sounds strange, rest assured that it caught the attention of our collective mustaches, though not enough to get into a neighborhood war over dog leavings. Leaving no celebrity stone unturned, we investigate the rumors that Jared from Subway is worth a substantial fortune, Justin Beiber may have joined a nudist cult and Kanye West just can't get it right. We talk about all of that and more before departing for the week to attend our weekly meeting of sex toy combatants. Never fear for the Beard is here!

The Comic Roast Episode #9 - The Prime Perspective
Monday Sep 15, 2014
Monday Sep 15, 2014
Streaming on a lazy river of coffee and couch potatoing, The Comic Roast pilots through a new forest of upcoming entertainment. Viewing each of the five new series proposals from Amazon Prime, we discuss which shows (if any) should be given a full season. Scott and Brody recently had a mini-marathon of new-ish game experiences with Legendary Encounters, Pandemic and Epic Spell Wars while Joe and Scott describe what it's like to finally have a Destiny. In New #1's, we climb aboard the Trees by Warren Ellis. We wrap with an Over / Under on classic rock bands and Best Thing Ever. Will Ron Perlman recapture his Sons Of Anarchy magic? Can Warren Ellis once again win the love of Brody post-Gun Machine? Is Pandemic worth all of the accolades hoisted upon it? All of that and much more this week on The Comic Roast!
